The Duet

“Wojoud Wa Hodoud”, is a duet dance creation created by two Arab artists, driven by the embracement of the multi-identity of their nature and the reconciliation of their feelings about their heritage. The dance creation reflects the struggle of assimilating into different cultures, finding a balance between them and balancing the identities within.

In addition, the dance piece is also trying to explore what “authenticity” is in relation to dance in the age of globalization when everything continues to evolve. The conclusion is, perhaps, in this creation, being authentic means being true to oneself. Notably, the dance making is independent from music. As a result, in performance, with experimental sounds and audio noises produced live with the dance movements, music is neither followed or rejected by the movements.
